Need help transitioning from Yahoo Store

I bought a dropship site to work on. It is a Yahoo store. For the amount of money I make off of it, I'm not happy with it and the added $40 a month. I've dabbled with OSCommerce before. My problem is, since I am already up and running, how do I change this into an OSCommerce site? And also, how do I switch to another host? And who is a good host? I'm considering hostmonster or cookiehost.

I don't want to be down for days while I do this, so can I buy hosting and build with OSC while still running Yahoo? If so, how do I set up the OSC I'm building since the site is in use and I don't want to blocking any current sales? I have a day job as well, so this isn't as simple as taking it down one day and being up that night.

Thanks for any help or ideas.

if you want to use the same domain name then you have to loose the one site and work on a new one.

An alternative is to work on osC on localhost then when you move hosts upload it to the new host and install it.

Yes, localhost is what I was looking for. Can someone correct me if I am wrong. Thinking way back to my html days here for this one. I would download OSC to my computer and work on it there making the domain names there. However, it's not connected to the internet so I should be able to see if everything works correctly, loads correctly. Then when ready, I'd move to the new host and upload OSC I have worked on. Then, everything should work online. Does this sound correct?

yes its about right, you can repackage it and install it, or you could upload it and the database then just change the configure.php files.

I would suggest something like XAMPP to use for your localhost server
