binkycrafts Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Hi all, Not sure if something exists that could help here but I have looked and cant find so thought I would ask if anyone has any ideas. We have 4000 items in our store and frequently items go out of stock and then when the replacements come in there is no nice visible notification like the new products box. In an ideal world i would like to have another box like the new products box showing all items that are back in stock in the order they were re stocked. Or even to have them added to the new products box would work for me but without changing the original date added date. I could do this now with easy populate but dont want to loose the history of any products for reporting. If anyone can think of a contrib that would help here please let me know as it has been a missing part of our shop for a few years now. Thanks again, Binkys - http://www.binkycrafts.com/shop Tony
binkycrafts Posted October 2, 2009 Author Posted October 2, 2009 Featured Products ahh, now, see, this is why we come here :-D I can see how that could work, after i restock an item I then add it to the top of the featured products list . .and so on and so on. Dont know too much about the contrib but will be downloading and having a good look. many thanks, Tony. Tony
MrPhil Posted October 2, 2009 Posted October 2, 2009 You might also consider tweaking your osC settings to permit buyers to purchase an out-of-stock item (backordered), which you then ship to them when it comes in. That might be a more effective sales tool than highlighting something as "hey, this was out of stock, but it's back in stock now!". I just don't see that as being all that effective (at least, it doesn't work for me -- I'm not likely to remember on a later visit that I wanted that item but it was out of stock at the time). Granted, featuring a product that was out of stock is probably better than just silently restocking it, but it also runs the risk of pointing out that you allow your stock to run out in the first place!
