rachael_web86 Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Hi, I've had a look at add ons for this and searched the forum but can't seem to get what I'm after and hoping you guys could maybe point me in the right direction please... The site, www.pretavoir.co.uk, is going to sell glasses and sunglasses... so what I need is when a customer selects a pair of prescription glasses they then have to fill in a form (their eye prescription) which will be mailed to me with their order? Is this possible? Many thanks, Rachael
multimixer Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Why not to work with attributes on this? So customers can just click, ie left eye-----right eye 0,25---------0,25 0,50---------0,50 0,75---------0,75 1,00---------1,00 etc? But to be honest I was hoping that they would be redirected to another page to fill in their prescription rather than fill in thier details on the products page itself before selecting add to cart? Maybe I'm just being too fussy?! lol !
burt Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 I suppose that it's preferable to do this selection once per order, rather than once per product. You could have it as part of the create_account page? But then what happens if the buyer comes back to purchase glasses for their children. You could have it as part of the checkout_success page? Or as part of the shopping_cart page It's kind of difficult to add in an extra page to the checkout process.

And what is if somebody buy glasses for grandfather + 2 pcs for children + sunglasses? My community profile | Template system for osCommerce - New: Responsive | Feedback channel
burt Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 Exactly my thought - but would it happen often? I -guess- that most orders are for one-self?
burt Posted October 1, 2009 Posted October 1, 2009 An idea might be to have the options as normal attributes on each product that needs them. Once they have been selected, "remember" the selections - so that each product info "attributes" always selects as default whatever the person chose (for the item they already have in the cart). That way, you get the best of both worlds, flexibility in case a person orders for more than just themselves, and also ease of use so that the person only has to enter their eye settings once (per session obviously).
rachael_web86 Posted October 1, 2009 Author Posted October 1, 2009 Thanks guys - I think the best way forward is for me to just add product attributes to all the prescription frames and hope it can run smoothly that way! Thank u!!
