lordofcb Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Maybe I am just dense, but I have been trying to figure this one out for quite some time now. Currently, whenever I add a product into the catalog from admin, it uploads the photo into the catalog/images folder I have an awful lot of products to enter and it would be so much less cluttered if I could add them into subfolders under catalog/images. I see that is the way they are stored in the default shop, but as yet I can't duplicate this myself.. it just puts them all into images folder.
germ Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 This contribution looks promising. I haven't tried it - I just know it exists. This part of the forum and the contribution I linked to is for osC V2 only. V3 questions and support are elsewhere in this forum. lordofcb Posted September 27, 2009 Author Posted September 27, 2009 This contribution looks promising. I haven't tried it - I just know it exists. It looks like a nice contribution, but, I just thought I was missing something somewhere. How did they do it for the default shop? When my default shop was installed, it had category and subcategory photos in the images folder with the actual product images in separate folders.
germ Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 "Vanilla" osC doesn't use subfolders for product images. Guest Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 This contribution looks promising. I haven't tried it - I just know it exists. It does look promising. My need is to be able to specify additional images in html so that I do not have to duplicate the images under "Admin". The reason for this odd need is because I use WS Tool Tip in Page Manager to specify additional images.
lordofcb Posted September 27, 2009 Author Posted September 27, 2009 "Vanilla" osC doesn't use subfolders for product images. I didn't notice it last time i did my store either.. but the only reason I noticed now was I was cleaning up the store and deleting all the existing products.. I went to get rid of the product images, and they are not in catalog/images.. they are in like catalog/images/dvds/ catalog/images/memory catalog/images/printers catalog/images/mice/mouse1.gif this is a version my webhost makes available of ms2.2 so i cant compare against a downloaded version from osc
germ Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Those are leftovers from the default install. It's just that "vanilla" osC will put all NEW product/category images AFTER THE DEFAULT INSTALL in the /catalog/images folder by default. If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. ♥ecartz Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 You could also check the tip/trick that I posted about setting the image upload destination. Note: I've never used that contribution and make no comment on which method is better. Always back up before making changes.
