Changes To Checkout Process

I need a push in the right direction...

During the checkout process i was wondering if it possible to add another page where some vital information can be entered about the customer.

As i am trying to compile a spectacle website, and having to register initially could drive customers away so i am going for a non-registration checkout opion.

I would like a way to add another step in the checkout process for Prescription Entry, the information added on this page needs to be sent in the email to myself, and onto the invoice / packing slip.

Once this information has been entered, which will be on a page of its own, i would like it to continue with the rest of the checkout process (address, payment method etc)

I am still in the early stages of creating my site, and would love if anyone could give me a push in the right direction as i am a beginner in php, or even a direction to a contribution which will create a whole new page in the checkout process.

Thank you in advance.

You can use options type contribution that allows you to add Text, images as attributes on the products product_info page, this will then do what you need, ie, print to the conrfirmation, and show on invoices and the customers order

If my customer wants to purchase multiple items though they will have to input this information several times which i imagine will drive away custom.

Isn't there a way to add another page to the checkout process, to enter this information so it is only entered once, before the actual payment is taken?

How would the information be presented to the customer?

Drop down boxes etc.. or in put boxes the customer fills in.

I take it with Glasses that people would only buy a max of 2 pairs? (im assuming this as i have no clue)

Why not do it as part of the create_account process?

What you do is refactor the create_account page so that it does not look like an account is being created.
