New to osCommerce with a download question

I am amazed by the amount of information on this forum, it has overwhelmed me lol. If someone could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

 

One of the things I want to sell in my store is audios that the customer can download right after purchase. Where do I find information on how to set this up?

Once you download osCommerce, and unzip it into its own folder, inside that folder you will find a pdf file called documentation.

 

If you read this, it should answer most of your questions for now.

Well that wasn't as hard as I thought...one more question and I will stop bugging you :)

 

I thought I read somewhere on here, and of course I cannot find it, that there was some problem with being able to download the item before making sure payment went through. Maybe this was an old bug but if not is there some way to make sure this doesn't happen?

I have used software download in the past and it worked fine ... payment received before item was sent automatically.

 

Just work through the setup manual and then the best thing to do is test it yourself ..... maybe get a friend to test it also.

 

That way you get the full "feel" of what the customer has to go through.

 

get your friend(s) to order something and provide feedback on how smooth the transition was.

 

They get a "free" product (you can give them the $$$ to make the purchase) and you get good customer feedback prior to launching.

Hiya. There is a contribution called 'Downloads controller' that will set up your downloads. Its in the contribution section. Ot includes full install instructions and works fine.
