EasyPopulate / Import help!

Hey guys. I am in the middle of setting up an OSC site for an existing store. The existing store has it's product info already compiled into HTML, but no other source.

How can i convert this into a format that EasyPopulate can read? This is a sample 5 'rows' from the code i will need to input:

<tr><td>Coldcut <td>More Bits & Pieces inc Q Bert Mix<td>UK<td>Ninja 1<td>?10

<tr><td>Coldcut<td>Autumn Leaves / Fat Bloke<td>UK<td>Ninja Tune 1992  [Top Label]<td><IMG SRC="face.gif">

<tr><td>Coldcut<td>Christmas Break, Santa's House<td>UK<td>Big Life 1989<td>?8

<tr><td>Commercial Suicide  [DJ]<td>Anytime<td>UK<td>White<td>£3

<tr><td>Concept Of One<td>Dance With Me<td>US<td>Cutting<td>£6

Any help would be greatly appreciated here, as i have 10,000 records (both database, and vinyl ;)) to add to the store, and dont fancy doing them manually!!

Regards, Jay.

Am i right in thinking that EP needs a UNIQUE model number for each product added? The principle business of the store i'm setting up is selling records, and none of them have a 'model number'. Is there anyway i can assign an auto-incrementing "made up" model number, so i can create a catalog number for all the available products?

Going back to my example above - something like this:

OSC0000001 | Coldcut | More Bits & Pieces inc Q Bert Mix | UK | Ninja 1 | ?10

OSC0000002 | Coldcut | Autumn Leaves / Fat Bloke | UK | Ninja Tune 1992  [Top Label] |

OSC0000003 | Coldcut | Christmas Break, Santa's House | UK | Big Life 1989 | ?8

OSC0000004 | Commercial Suicide  [DJ] | Anytime | UK | White | ?3

OSC0000005 | Concept Of One | Dance With Me | US | Cutting | ?6

Following on from this - i was originally using the Model field for a new "artist" field, how much work is involved in adding fields to the profuct database, and also modding EasyPopulate to work with the new fields?

Regards, Jay.

When I create my spreadsheet, I just assign a number like LG101 and drag it to the end of the column and it autofills. I change something like the LG to CD or start with much higher numbers for the next sheet. There is probably another way to do it, but that works for me right now. Also, go into your database table for products and increase the number of characters to a number larger than 12, believe me, with the number of products you have you will need more than 12 characters :)

Loxly, that is an absolute Gem of information - Excel gets more and more useful every day :D Just created 8,000 unique identifiers in about 30 seconds.

I'd give ya a big kiss, but your all the way over the bond - so this is the best OSC's smiley library had: :inlove:

hehe!

Aw, gee, it was nothing. (maybe I can get on a plane)

I have learned some other neat tricks in Excel over the past couple of weeks, like how to combine cells, very useful if you want to add an image directory to 7000 image names, or combine a product name and description for the header tags, make sql queries (like insert statements) for a whole bunch of products, or ....

deb

(you could share how to put java in the header so I can have a cool site header too!)

Maybe now I can take a nap, knowing one more problem can be solved tonight.... (it's 9 am here and I didn't get any sleep. Darn vvgallery anyway, and it doesn't even work.... grumble grumble.....)
