ivyfleur
Hi there, I had a look at the error log on the server and there was an entry that is shown below:- [error] [client 213.227.59.80] File does not exist: /home/mydomain/public_html/_vti_bin/_vti_aut/author.dll Is this an attempt to "hack"? The WHOIS on the IP address show it as registered in Spain. Anyone has any idea what this error means? :( Thanks.
germ
That command is related to Front Page access to the server. If you don't have that setup it's not a threat. If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you. ivyfleur
Thanks for the response Germ. No I don't have Frontpage nor do I use it. So what does it mean? It like someone from an IP address in Spain trying to access that file on my domain. Why?
germ
I'm not positive on this but from what I can gather if you did have Front Page access to the site setup they might use that to "fish" for usernames and passwords.
