Creating a new database...

I just downloaded a Chat contribution and one of the installation steps is to

 

3. Create a new database (like chat) and run chat.sql into it.

 

How do I create a new database and run that file into it?

You create a new database in phpMyAdmin or via the cpanel of your hosting account

Ok, I did that, now how do I run the file into it?

go to the database you created in phpmyadmin and import the sql file.

 

there should be an import tab, select the chat.sql file and it should upload and poulate.

Hi, I hope you can help me with this too. The last steps are:

 

4. Update file main/configure.php

5. Update file catalog/includes/boxes/chat.php

 

How do I update a file? Do i have to grab the configure.php and the chat.php that came in the contribution and put them in the place of the ones that came originally with OSCommerce?

Come on, please, I am new to this and really need help! Or does it mean that I need to copy the code of the configure.php in the contribution into the original file?

Well, "update" can have different meanings, I don't know exactly what the instructions here mean, but maybe the meaning is, to let the files know, whats your new database name is?
