JEmlay Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 I'm looking for a shopping cart and I believe I've answered most of my questions. All I have left that I couldn't figure out by searching the site are: 1. Can OSCommerce keep track of inventory? Say I know I have 10 of an item. Only sell 10 then switch the item to not available. 2. Of the payment gateways available do any of them allow for payment auths without leaving the OSCommerce website? I don't want to bounce my customers to paypal or any other third party site. Thanks for any input! Justin
♥geoffreywalton Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 1. Yes 2. For some cards you "go" to the card site and return to your site, protx being one. Unless you are PCI compliant you have to work this way. JEmlay Posted July 2, 2009 Author Posted July 2, 2009 In the past I used an "eCommerce Template" which I had to make many many codes changes to become PayPal Pro compliant. However, in the end it accepted payment information then passed it to Paypal and recieved the final outcome all without having to leave my site. I was hoping to be able to use something like Paypal Pro again without having to go through extensive code changes with a pre existing shopping cart. Thanks for your time Geoffrey! EDIT: I guess a better way of putting it would be, Does OSCommerce support Paypal Pro? Or any other services like it?
JEmlay Posted July 2, 2009 Author Posted July 2, 2009 Or how about Authorize.net? We're thinking of using them as well. Chase says that payment gateway supports full processing (staying on your own site) but I never believe a salesman.

I do not recommend Paypal, though. I have never used Authorize.net. What you want to ask is if they have an Application programming interface (API). This allows OSCommerce or any application to directly communicate with their server.
♥ecartz Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Authorize.net has two modes (SIM and AIM). One where you redirect to their site to enter payment details (SIM) and another (AIM) where you enter the information in osCommerce and then send it to Authorize.net from the server (which then gets the response). osCommerce has payment modules for both. I haven't used either recently, so I can't comment on quality or reliability. Authorize.net has their own forum on osCommerce: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showforum=56 You might get a better idea of quality and reliability from it. Always back up before making changes.
