grahamy84 Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Hi, Here is my site:http://fiorenzato.co.uk/catalogue/ As you can see on my front page I have a load of images I simply don't want to be there. I don't mean I want to change the actual images, I just want to replace them with images/products that are more attractive. i.e. the espresso machines. How do you choose what is shown in the box on the front page? I'd love some help!
Guest Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 These are dynamically assigned based on your new products. If you install a featured products mod like this: http://www.oscommerce.com/community/contributions,651 You will be able to select what appears. ♥ecartz Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 You can also select what appears by adding new products (which will appear in the box). If there is an existing product that you want to appear, you could delete it and then add it again. That may or may not be easier than installing a contribution. It depends on how often you add new products or want to change the products on the home page. Always back up before making changes.

There wasn't a readme file in the zip. I'm wondering if you could tell me how I go about selecting the image order on my front page as I'm having trouble finding it. Thanks for your help!
l.laura208 Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Hi Mark, Do you mean you want to change the image order of the 'Fiorenzato Espresso Machines' section on your home page? If so, you need change the products order via your website back-end also.

How do I do that? Thanks for the reply!
knifeman Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 I am using an older version, but I go to Admin/catalog/featured. Choose the products to show on the front page. Another way is to change the date a product was added in the database. This does not require a contribution. just manipulates the db. The downside is every time you add new products, they jump in front of the ones you specified. Tim

I have opened the php file but I haven't got a clue where I should be including the images/products (I just don't know how to)?
knifeman Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 The last update for the featured products mod is not a full package. it only contains 2 files. There is more installation to do than just uploading those 2 files. Once you install the entire mod, then log into your admin, go to catalog, go to featured. Now you can select which products will show up in the featured products box that replaces the original 'new products' box. TIP: choosing more products than are allowed to show at one time, cause them to show randomly giving you a different set every time the page loads. ♥ecartz Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 It looks like the 1.6.3 version is a full package. Note that 1.6.4 says, "NOT full package!" while 1.6.3 says, "This is a FULL PACKAGE." Always back up before making changes.

burt Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Go for an easier one: http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/5848 When you see a contribution that has had loads of updates, you'd do well to avoid it. Unless those updates are by the original (or another well-known) author.
