Customer Comment Field

Hello, I'm fairly new to php, mysql, and oscommerce and would just like to say that everyone on this forum has been absolutely instrumental in my setting up my first shop. So far, I have been able to tackle every issue and solve every problem I've faced using the contributions/support forums. There is one issue, however, that has me stumped and I can't seem to figure out... I would like to disable the customer comments field during the checkout process. It seems a little excessive imo, w/ all of the contact avenues on my site (fax, phone, 3 different email addresses posted, and the contact us box). It would give me one more thing to keep track of during the order process and I don't think its necessary... How do I remove it?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. TYVM

Just to be clear, you do not want your customers to be able to say "leave the box at the door if no one is home" or "if out of stock send green instead"? We had the comments box save us the time it took to get an email, look up the customer (sometimes it had no name, others it came from a different email address or the customer had two accounts on our site and didn't reference the order number in the email, etc.) try to find who was actually pulling the order, hope they had not boxed it yet and made the change the customer was requesting. The comments box is specifically for comments on customer orders, not as a method of contacting you. If you think it is overkill you can always shrink the box size but really, I would consider leaving it there fwiw.
