free shipping?

Maybe someone can point me to a contribution... I couldn't find one.

I have some items on my site that don't require shipping... I build hand drums, and have a 'custom' section where they can have the option to have one built custom. The charge on my site is a down payment and the actual cost of the drum will be billed when the drum is complete (along with actual shipping). However, when checking out, I have an option for either in store pick up or fedex ground. I tried making a weight of 0 to 1 lbs to charge 0 for shipping, but it looks like that is overlooked. I thought I could just set my weight to 0 for those products but again that doesn't work.

Is there a contrib that will allow me to set up these products and not be bothered with shipping costs, or is there any type of work-around?

Also, just thought about this while writing this post. I might would like to add specials where I run a few weeks of free shipping. Is there a good contrib for that? Would it be the same one??

Thanks for any input.

Did you set the tare weight to zero in the admin as well? Look at Shipping/Packing in the Knowledge Base for more information about Package Tare Weight.

If that doesn't help, searching contributions for "zero weight" finds http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/3823

Always back up before making changes.

Thanks...

It was the tare. I had it set at 3. I just reset it to 0, then have 0:0, in the fedex table. So any item that I don't want to charge shipping, I set the weight to 0.

The user still has to select a $0.00 shipping option, but I can live with that.

Would there be a simple if/else statement that I can use to skip the shipping page if the shipping price is 0. Or would that confuse it later at checkout?
