fatkat87 Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Hi every one, I have no idea why this is happening possibly to do with a 301 redirect I did (caused all sorts of headaches) but my basket will not add any products to it no matter how many times I try. As you can imagine this is quite a important part of a e-commerce store and im really stuck. Could any one please help me? Thanks in advance Mike
masat Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I'm sure you keep readers in suspense and not tell us the how and why story behind the 301. How do you know when you know what you want to do for the rest of your life?
♥ecartz Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 It would be easier to help you with more information. For example, a link to your store would help. If that is not feasible, you might try explaining more about what happens when you try to add something to the cart. What do you do? What happens? Always back up before making changes.
fatkat87 Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 I have taken all the redirects off now. I had them set up to redirect all sub domains to http://www.alloywheelscenter.co.uk as it was showing as http://alloywheelscenter.co.uk, http://alloywheelscenter.co.uk/index.php and them 2 again with the www. After I did the initial redirect I could not logon to any https:// pages so hostgator support redirected all https://www. pages to https://alloywheelscenter.co.uk which solved the first set of issues, create account, checkout and login in to admin but then I found out that the basket could not be used. Every time you 'add to basket' it would just refresh and say your basket is empty?
masat Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 the cart relies on the proper settings in configure.php. Why are you concerned with the www. You should just forget it unless you have to use it and if you do you should be able to do this in your host admin. Why are you using subdomains? You are just throwing gas on the flames. I think you are trying to be to fancy. KISS How do you know when you know what you want to do for the rest of your life?
spooks Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Maybe sid issue? http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?sho...c=330479&hl Sam Remember, What you think I ment may not be what I thought I ment when I said it. masat Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 I just tried your site and things are adding to the cart just fine. Even the quantity updates properly. How do you know when you know what you want to do for the rest of your life?
fatkat87 Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 I didnt intent to use the sub domains i didnt set any up its just the way they appear I only want to use http://www.alloywheelscenter.co.uk so i thought i would redirect them all to it but apparently some pages are not visible /available through www.?
fatkat87 Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 I just tried your site and things are adding to the cart just fine. Even the quantity updates properly. Thats because i have turned all the redirects off. I wanted to sort the issue before turning back on so the store will run fine.
masat Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Well I am confused. How can subdomains appear if you did not set any up? And why redirect them? Although http://alloywheelscenter.co.uk/ and http://www.alloywheelscenter.co.uk/ will indeed get you to the same page the configure.php will only operate with one of them because the cookie domain is different for the www. You need to get rid of the www. The change I think you are trying to make should be done in DNS which should be able to be done in the hosting admin panel or via hosting support. I think you mentioned that before so you need to fix the paths in configure.php If the cart is working why do you need to make further changes and turn on redirects for subdomains you do not have. I still get the feeling you are making this way more difficult than it should be. How do you know when you know what you want to do for the rest of your life?
fatkat87 Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 I am not purposely making it difficult all i want is the site to work and it to be displayed as http://www.alloywheelscenter.co.uk/ that is all. I might make it sound complicated but that is because i dont know what the problem is or how to achieve what i am after.
fatkat87 Posted July 3, 2009 Author Posted July 3, 2009 Hi, Thanks for your time and help, the issue is now solved I spoke to host gator again and apparently the site was set up with no www. so the redirects were not working properly, any way changed the domain names in configure.php and set up the redirects and it all works fine now.
