apeth
When a user pays via paypal, they need to go back to OSC to complete the order (the order isn't entered into the system unless they do). By default, Paypal was just showing a 'click here to return to xxx' button, and I can imagine a lot of users not doing this - they'd figure that since the payment had been made, the order had gone through. I found some instructions on editing the Paypal shipping module so that it automatically redirected back. Now when I make a payment, I get 'you will be returned to xxx in 5 seconds. Click here if you are not automatically redirected'. That works nicely if I pay via my paypal account; but if I pay by credit card, I don't get the automatic redirect - just a 'click here to return to xxx'. The automatic redirect might not be a perfect solution, but it's better than nothing. Paypal are saying this feature isn't available to people without a paypal account. Any thoughts? How are others dealing with this issue? My best solution at the moment is to tell the user that they need to click the return button - but that's not very user friendly
♥ecartz
The PayPal IPN contribution solves this by communicating with PayPal directly and not relying on PayPal to send the user back to the shop. It is more complicated than the regular PayPal contribution but it is also more reliable. Quote Always back up before making changes.
