minglou Posted September 20, 2003 Posted September 20, 2003 I saw amazon.com, target.com, drugstore.com those of website has 1 click puchase function. i think it is possible to reduce steps to checkout for those who keep credit card information in their onw server, what about using 2checkout? i would like to see if anybody get this works, that will be a great step for oscommerce shopping cart's history! sean
Guest Posted September 23, 2003 Posted September 23, 2003 I definitely think that 1-click purchase a la Amazon could be achieved. The question you should be asking... would you really like that? I have made lots of orders with Amazon, in fact I have even changed the necessary things for the 1 click purchase. BUT I NEVER USE IT! I'd invite you to ask around on how many people actually use this function. My advice is: just because Amazon has it, doesn't mean you should have it too. Amazon's website is cluttered beyond believe with useless functions and an abundance of information, which makes you just ignore everything and focus on the thing you want. You want this book, you want this CD, you want this DVD. In my opinion, if you want to build a webshop you must learn to say no to certain features. osCommerce also comes with a few functions that just don't make sense. Your customers don't want gimmicks, they want to shop. Slightly off topic. Anyway, I have completely re-modeled the checkout procedure to my liking: My first page allows the user to select his payment method, as well as his billing address. I have completely rebuild it, it now shows a list of the addresses in the account, you simply pick one. Of course you can edit or add on the same page. With one methode of payment and the default address selected, most users can simply click on Next without changing anything. My second page allows the suer to select the shipping address. The payment page contained a checkbox, which would skip this page alltogether if both addresses are the same. My third page is confirmation and allows the user to send some comments and my fourth page is "thank you, order accepted". I'd say, get to work and do it yourself. It takes some time, but it is worth it.
