fazd
Currently each product I add becomes part of my home page. Do I have any control over what products I want to be displayed on the homepage?

So you are saying I can adjust these a bit in the admin? I can not see anywhere they can be set.

♥ecartz
Frank, spooks is saying that you can set a maximum number of products to show in the New Products box by setting the New Products value in the admin (link's to documentation about this). It sounds like what you want to do is to choose which products show. You can do that in two ways. The easy way is to make sure that the products you want to show are the newest in the store (i.e. the ones that you just added). Sometimes that won't work for you (e.g. you have a steady stream of new products and want older products to show). In that case, you can replace the New Products box with something else. There are several contributions for that in the Add-ons area. Always back up before making changes.
multimixer
I added the featured products contribution to solve this, and replaced the new products with featured products on the main page. So I can choose via admin what to display My community profile | Template system for osCommerce - New: Responsive | Feedback channel
