Chris34 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 When uploading these files to my host obviously its standard practise to use an FTP program. However some of these contributions are only one file, is it ok to just open the file on my computer and then copy all the text in the file and then paste all the data into a file that I have set up on the server? is that ok to do that or is there an important reason for using an FTP program to upload data to a file? Cheers, Chris.

Cheers, Chris. you can use ftp or filemanage on cpanel to upload, ftp just allows remote access to server to upload files, whereas filemanage is software on the server to upload ie you have to connect to the host via host login panel. As for contributions is no harm to alter the files on your pc then upload to your server, always have a backup file incase you mess up and can restore your site
