SincerelyL.Cohen Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Hi all, After creating a test account I received an email notification, but there was no password? Hence I can't login and place orders as a new customer! Help appreciated. Kris
♥geoffreywalton Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 As "you" set up the account and selected the password it is not sent out. Use the forgotten password option if you have forgotten the password. Use the forgotten password option if you have forgotten the password. G Thanks G, but "I" didn't use my own email (the shops email) I used a completely different email address (as if I were a new customer) that I obviously have access to, here are the results of the received email: "Dear Mr. Grimley, We welcome you to Traditional Ironmongery - door hinges, bolts, locks, ironmongery. You can now take part in the various services we have to offer you. Some of these services include: Permanent Cart - Any products added to your online cart remain there until you remove them, or check them out. Address Book - We can now deliver your products to another address other than yours! This is perfect to send birthday gifts direct to the birthday-person themselves. Order History - View your history of purchases that you have made with us. Products Reviews - Share your opinions on products with our other customers." Alas no password? any ideas? thanks Kris PS I did try the forgotten password option, I received it, tried an order and it just looped back into the new customer page? not recognising the password.
FIMBLE Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 You should have chosen your password during the create account process, did you not have this option? Nic Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post My Contributions
SincerelyL.Cohen Posted June 20, 2009 Author Posted June 20, 2009 You should have chosen your password during the create account process, did you not have this option?Nic Yes I did have that option, and I used it, still the email notification didn't include it. So if I were a potential customer, i'd not know my password! http://www.traditionalironmongery.co.uk/shop/ perhaps try for yourself if you'd be so kind! cheers Kris

SincerelyL.Cohen Posted June 20, 2009 Author Posted June 20, 2009 Which Email Kris? Sorry, my heads gone, revised post above...
SincerelyL.Cohen Posted June 20, 2009 Author Posted June 20, 2009 Which Email Kris? This basically: Yes I did have that option, and I used it, still the email notification didn't include it. FIMBLE Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 The whole point is that if you enter a password you are to remember it. There is no confirmation by default with the password in it for security reasons. Nic Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post My Contributions

Nic Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, DOH! well I've wasted a few hours then! I did presume a password would be emailed, if I've shopped online, many times a password has been emailed to me? Oh well, thanks anyway.
FIMBLE Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Depends on the software used. osCommerce has opted not to for whatever reason Nic Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post My Contributions
