DamanC Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Hi Guys, Bit of a challenge this one. The shop sells items that have around 40/50 options per product. Its a bit of an eyeful to be honest. Im looking for a solution to be able to separate the product options listing slightly by adding some kind of heading in-between all of the options drop downs. Only 3 or 4 are needed. Any pointers or advice would be great :) D
sharma.atul85 Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 look for that instead of <option ></option> tag try <optgroup></optgroup> tag but I dnt have clear idea how your products are featured ..
DamanC Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 Hi Atul, My options are for example like a computer shop and I would have for example CPU upgrades Memory Upgrades Hard disk upgrades Case Extra fans Operating system Antivirus Office suite At the moment they are all in one long list, as listed above. What I want to do is insert some kind of header to create a virtual group, like this; MAIN UPGRADES CPU upgrades Memory Upgrades Hard disk upgrades CASE UPGRADES Case Extra fans SOFTWARE Operating system Antivirus Office suite You will have to excuse me, but I do not understand your "look for that instead of <option ></option> tag try <optgroup></optgroup> tag " sentence Thanks
zefeena Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 You could put three main groups. Then add subcategories. I used a contib to put boxes on the front page and if you did the same, you would beable to add a nice big visual box/picture to show your three main cats. www.sewingchest.co.uk Running a botched up version of osCommerce Online Merchant v2.3.4 bootstrap with the dresscode theme installed, numerous add-ons, terrible coding, terrible website, but will have to make do until I have made up for my losses and can risk shutting down for a couple of weeks while I start all over again. - I did not install my program but am endeavouring to fix it with your help.
DamanC Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 Hi Kellie, Hows the supra? ;) Small world, and just before you freak out, Rich knows me :) The options I posted above IE "operating system" is a option name rather than a value. The name would then have Values.... I cant see how I would get 3 groups/sub-categories....
DamanC Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 Please excuse the rough drawings and the strange names of the product options and values. Its something I have mocked up. This is what I currently have, but with 50 option names; This is what I am trying to achieve, I dont care where the heading is placed just as long as it shows a break in the endless list of option names and values. I have simply copied a few existing names/values to show more just incase anyone was wondering that they were the same.
