charles
Can a column with a check box titled 'Problem Solved!' be added to the forum which can only be checked by the original author of a topic. (Note that this would be differenet from editing your own post) If author/users were willing to check the box on their thread when they get an answer to their problem which works, it would maker search of the forum for solutions much easier and probably reduce the number of redundant postings over time. In my case, at least three different people posed the same problem in three different threads over a three week period. The problem has been solved now and I have no way of notifying the community because the topic still reads the same. If someone else three weeks from now experiences the same problem, they may not find the thread buried in the many 1000's. I had to try changing the topic and question to attract different eyes and then it was someone else topic that drew the response that solved the problem. However, such a column and the ability to 'view solved issues' would greatly cut down on redundancy as well as developement time. charles
I'm still thinking here. Maybe a check box on the 'post reply' page. When the box is checked, on submission it would replace the status icon in the left column of the index pages with a 'blinking, wiggling, red' icon to signify problem solved but the thread would not be closed or locked to permit further input. Again, using that check box should only be available to the original author. Everyone, feedback would be good here if you like the idea. This is something that the voice of the majority could definitely help. Charles We stand in ignorance only for questions not asked.
