AR_1986
Hi, i've just managed to get my oscommerce shop installed and running but im having problems setting up email to work with it. I have no idea how to? can soeone point me in the right direction? how do i set the contact us to send to a particular email address i.e . i tried logging in the administration and under my store changing the e-mail address catagory to the address i wanted but nothing seemed to happen when i filled out the contact form a clicked send. Do i need to do it to the e-mail from address aswell? it already has something written in the box = oscommerce <root@localhost> any help would be appreciated. :)
FIMBLE
Yes alex put in you email address in both lines. You can also add it in the send extra emails box a bit further down Nic Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post My Contributions

AR_1986
THIS is what would help you to configure and setup email from your account. cheers That was very helpgul, i followed all the instructions. However, having put the email assress i wanted in E-mail Address and E-Mail From nothing happened. I try sending test emails from the contact us and i get nothing. what exactly is the E-Mail From line asking for? its default value is set to osCommerce <root@localhost> what do need to replace that with? I have already changed the value of E-mail address to and i even tried pasting the same into the E-mail Address From line but nothing happens. Do i need to use my incoming and outgoing mail server on any of these or is an email address sufficent? Im confused lol thanks for you help people
Gauravs
a. You have to replace Oscommerce <root@localhost> with your id that you want the recipient to see such as b. Check with your web hosting company what email methods are allowed from your account, is smtp enabled - and can someone send emails from your web hosting account. This information is typically available in help section / Knowledge base of your provider. Thx Best Regards,Gaurav

I know smtp is enabled because i use it for my outlook account. I have checked to see what my smtp settings are and have managed to get the following: - SMTP server: authsmtp.streamline.net SMTP username: your email address (ie ) SMTP password: your password SMTP port: 25 but i still dont receive any emails when i send from my site. i have the following settins on the Oscommerce admin: - My Store E-Mail Address- E-Mail From - E-Mail Options E-Mail Transport Method - smtp E-Mail Linefeeds - LF Use MIME HTML When Sending Emails - true Verify E-Mail Addresses Through DNS - true Send E-Mails - true My webhost server is set to Linux. If thats anhelp
Gauravs
Alex, You need to talk to your webhosting provider to ensure sendmail would work on your webhost and the right settings for the same. I am not sure what address do you put for recipient - but you may try to do a cc to hotmail / yahoo / gmail ids and see if any / none get emails. I would suggest to first use a stand alone php mail script (sourceforge xpertmail - is one such option) - to debug and get right settings for your email. Do you have access to raw logs / or can you ask your webhost to test the mail queue and let you know if mails are queued up there? Also - avoid double post - I notice another thread opened by you for same question. Cheers Best Regards,Gaurav

I used my hotmail address instead of for the email address and email from settings and as soon as i filled the form out and clicked submit i received it in my hotmail account. So this means there is a problem with my hosting right? Thats the first time its ever worked. Im using streamline.net if its any help. I'll send them an email now and see if its something maybe on their end.
