sballen Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Is there a Constibution out there that will permit shipping charges on Certain Items. What I mean is that I'd like to have the shipping charges based on weight, width, height and zip code. 'Cause if I use base on price, then I have items for $100.00 that weights under 10 lbs, (about $12.95 for shipping) and items that weigh over 400 lbs. (about $210 for Freight) The same if I use based on weight, I'd be charging to much for the lighter items. So what I'd like to do is (1) Set the Shipping & Handling Charges up based on weight, height, deep, and zip code, or list the shipping & handling charges with each product, and have checkout to catch it and figure it in. I thought about setting up my shipping as "Free", and just add shipping & handling in with the priice of the product, but then Customer are not dummies, they will realize that if they buy two or three items from me, then they are paying for Shipping & Handling two or three times. And Ideal? Samuel B. Allen
♥kymation Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 What shipping companies are you using? Most shippers provide an on-line quote system that osCommerce can use. You can set up your shipping to give the customer an exact quote for their total order. Regards Jim See my profile for a list of my addons and ways to get support.

But they ship by U.P.S., FedEx, USPS, and trucks depending on the weight, size and where the order is going. But seems to me like just any shipping company would give me good average. Know of any?
♥kymation Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 All of those will give you an online quote. Well, maybe not the trucking company that you use, since you didn't state which one. If you know which products are shipped by which carrier, you could use MVS to set up an exact quote for each carrier. If they don't do shipping strictly by product you may need to fudge it a bit. UPS and FedEx are usually fairly close, so either would give you a reasonable estimate. Truck ship should be only for specific products. You could use the BAX module to estimate truck shipping. It all depends on how close you need to get to the actual shipping cost. Regards Jim See my profile for a list of my addons and ways to get support.
