The "Return to Merchant" Problem

I have been searching the forum and just cannot seem to find the solution to the "Return to Merchant" problem. To recap the problem: Customer puts items in cart and wants to pay with paypal. I have paypal standard. They make payment, but if the do not click on the "Return to Merchant" button. I get no notification of the order. No inventory is deducted either, so now I have items in my store that are already sold.


This is a major pain has I have been burned on other customers purchasing items I no longer have.


How have others resolved this issue? I have read some posts where store owners cannot even see this in orders. Fortunately, the order shows up in my orders page, but inventory is not reduced.


This seems to be a problem plaguing many.
