Orders Not Showing Up

Guest

Recommended Posts

When a customer goes through and puts through an order, the payment goes through paypal no problem. I am using the PayPal module. The first two customer orders went through fine, no problem, and showed up on the order screen the way they were supposed to. However, the last two orders I have had have not shown up on the order screen.

Even though the payment goes through correctly, no order is displayed on my admin page nor is stock deducted. When I check the customer information for the customers who ordered, it says they have 0 orders.

So I end up having the money and no idea of what the customer ordered.

What could possibly be causing this? And how do I fix what is wrong?

Thanks so much, this is REALLY important!

I can remember that there were some problems with the paypal module in the past where orders didn't get through. Did you search the forums about that topic? If I remember it right, the answer of paypal wasn't the way it is expected so the order wasn't stored. A workaround was using the paypalIPN module, but not sure so far.

I've gotten this too. It's when they pay via credit card THROUGH paypal rather than you (if you offer it). At the end of the transaction, if they don't click "return to merchant" it doesn't tell you what they ordered. I have yet to find a way around it other than a popup telling them to click the button at the end. Haven't researched it much though. The items are still in their shopping carts most of the time also. There are a few contributions that supposedly take care of this, but I haven't tried.

You need to log into paypal and go to the PROFILE page at the top.

Now, towards the bottom you will see Hosted payment settings. Click Website Payments Preferences and turn "auto-return" on.

The return URL (I believe) is http://www.yoursite.com/catalog/checkout_success.php, which tells your site that the payment was good and to process the order. This logs the order and sends out emails.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this should fix your problem. I'm testing mine right now.

Thanks guys. I'll change that on the site and test it later today. I think the auto-return setting may be the problem. I originally had it checked (back when the orders went through correctly), but when I checked it this morning, it wasn't checked any more. I'll put through a test order on my break to see if that fixes it.

Again, thanks so much to everyone for your help :)

It is the problem. Now that Ryan mentioned it, I remember was it was. Have been offline for a lng time and my brain is not getting younger day by day... ;)

Yes, it seems to have fixed the problem. I turned on the auto-return (which doesn't automatically return to the store page, it gives a link to return) and edited the payment_confirmation.php to tell customers that they MUST click "Return to Butterfly" in order for their order to be processed as quickly as possible. Tested the link and as long as they click "Return to Butterfly," everything works perfectly.

Thank you guys SO MUCH for your help :)
