I have my first two orders, but I don't know how to use the invoicing. The current status on both says "preparing PayPal standard". Do I have to send an invoice to receive payment or does it just stay that way until they choose to complete the checkout? Also, "pending", "processing" & "delivered" do they change automatically or do I manually have to do it? What's the difference between pending & processing? Thanks for the assistance! :rolleyes:

they do change automatically if you are using the PayPal IPN module.

 

the difference between pending & processing?

pending - no payments but the order is logged.

processing - the payment received, you printing labels and preparing the order to dispatch.

8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself.

Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues.

Generally the order status will let you know how the customer paid. I have issues with PayPal whereby I don't get feedback. Check you paypal account. If they've not paid you then they probably left your website before paying. My admin/invoicing tells me the same regardless of them paying or not, as long as they chose paypal. I get no feedback from paypal to change the status. I generally then cahnge the status to Desptached when I print the order, and usually send it later that day. The customer won;t know if I send it then or two hours later. You can make as many status names as you want. They're mainly for yours and the cusomters reference to know what stage the order is at. You can change them when editing the order.

Really? The IPN module should give feedback? I've been missing out. I gave in over a year ago trying to configure it.

it's not feedback, its the IPN data & depends on valid & confirmed payment the IPN script change the status of the order in most of my and my clients stores.

On the admin side in the customers orders page my order status update has these options: Pending, Processing, Delivered & Preparing (Paypal Standard).

 

Question 1 is, does it say Preparing (Paypal Standard) if the item is paid for via paypal and processing if the payment chosen is anything else such as cheque?

 

Question 2, Where can I change the word Delivered so that it says Dispatched instead?

I want to know the answer to the 2nd question as well. It makes more sense from the seller side to indicate whether the item has been dispatched than delivered. THanks

 

eta: I figured it out, I just had to search a little harder
