web-project Posted May 29, 2009 Posted May 29, 2009 Does anyone know of a contribution which allows an admin to edit products on the front page, similar to the way that Joomla does? possible but you will need to re-write the whole osc, completely different systems. check how many security bugs and system bugs in Joomla Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here! 8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself. Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues. Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.
RobNYC Posted May 29, 2009 Author Posted May 29, 2009 possible but you will need to re-write the whole osc, completely different systems. check how many security bugs and system bugs in Joomla Yup Joomla is buggy, but much less in ver 1.5 But I dont use Joomla for E-Commerce. As far as I'm concerned, osCommerce is the standard in open source for e-commerce. I haven't thought this all the way through, but if I cant find a contribution to edit on the fly, I may write my own. It wouldn't require a rewrite, just a few hours of scripting.

There is also a very nice Store Manager (not free) out there that comes with a WSYIWIG editor and makes the changes directly through SQL. Not allowed to post advertisements here, but if you google Oscommerce Store Manager you'll find some options the one I'm using had a demo mode. After about 3 days in Demo mode I saw the benefits. Good Luck, Don
