categories item deletion

I have a category item/link that is still showing after being deleted from the admin panel categories.

 

when I open my page I see the categories list as it should be,

when clicking on any navbar button (including the home page) or any other site link

the item I want removed from the categories list appears and stays (probably because it is then cached)

 

I have removed the item from the admin panel categories

I have reset the cache in the admin panel multiple times

I am using a template and the link text is NOT in any image files

 

what gives? how can I get this category item to stop showing?
