BarneyBlue Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Hi All ! First post, so please be gentle with me. I am considering setting up a web site (in the UK) to sell "gadgets and gizmos" which I will have sent to the customers direct from China - on a drop shipping basis. I am in the early stages of thinking it through, and have looked at companies in the UK who offer cheap e-commerce hosting, with as much on-line support and utilities as possible. One such company has caught my eye and provides support for Joomla, Wordpress, FrontPage, Mambo and osCommerce. I have some experience of using Joomla and FrontPage, although never for an e-commerce site. I like the idea of an open source solution, but I am drawn to Joomla as I have already acquired basic skills in the package. My question to the experienced users on this Forum, is what are the reasons you would suggest for me choosing osCommerce over any of the others on the list ? I know I can read about the features it offers, and then contrast/compare with Joomla - but I am interested in the views of those who have gone before me down the osCommerce route. Apologies if I have posted to the wrong area of the forum. Barney

You can get plug ins for e.g. Joomla but they can't hold a candle to osC and its thousands of contributions.
