displaying a category of products and linking to it?

Ok... so I want to display products from a specific category on a page (list style, like in products_new). Also, to get to the specific category pages you will click on a link from the main website page.

 

For example, my products are categorized by region. So by clicking on a region from a map, it will take you to that category page listing the products in that catagory.

 

How do I accomplish this? ...the category pages and also the address of the links to those category pages?

 

*I am using STS 4.5.8 for a default template and I am aware of the link cPath=# ...but I am using an iframe (html) to contain my osc pages and dont use the catalog/index.php but link to specific osc pages like products_new and product_info.
