Guest
As above, I think it would be nice to have a surcharge option if paying by credit card or e-mail (paypal, nochex) rather than putting it on product price. Just a thought! Jeff.
rseigel
Of course that's against Visa/MasterCard rules and they'll shut you down in a heartbeat if you do it.
Guest
It is called overhead/operating costs and should be built into your product's price along with things such as , liability ins., incoming freight, inventory carrying costs, packaging costs, and you name it. And as mentioned, it is against the rules so you will find yourself quickly in the going out of business- cash only business. ;)
Guest
Weird, A few companies come to mind who already use the credit card surcharge arrangement. This one springs to mind: http://www.maxking.co.uk/ They have had a credit card surcharge in place for years. jEFF.
Guest
MaxKing is a wholesaler? In certain circumstances wholesalers are permitted to "recover" the cost of accepting CC. If you're a retailer, it's just a cost of doing business. If you don't have enough margin to absorb the cost , you're aren't going to make any money anyway......... sgflowers
You can do a "cash" discount but it violates most merchant agreements as mentioned before to do an upcharge for cc transactions > i wouldn't do it
loxly
Plus it is against the law in many US states, there was a big todo about it in NYS years ago when the gas stations had "Cash" and "Credit" prices. The loophole is that you can offer cash discounts, but you would need to be very, very careful. Many gas stations still have the old signs, but the laws were passed and never have been reversed. Some states also have laws about offering coupons, buy one get one free offers and contests. Bottom line is better do some homework!
