Hello,

I have installed the new Auspost for post Nov and it all seems to work fine however I am confused about the weights of things.

One shop I have is a CD shop. The weight of a CD is 80g but I am not sure how to enter this in the individual CD product area.

Do I put it is as 80.00 or .80 ?

And where do I change lbs to gm's or kls.

Also does Aus Post also work out costs for regular mail or is it just parcels and is there a diifference in costs?

Thank you,

1kg = 1.0

100gm = .1

80gm = .08

You don't have to change anything here... all you have to do is ensure that you enter all your product weights in the same format.

ie. If you're working in Kg, enter all your product weights in Kg. Pretty easy!

Parcels, as in ParcelPost. The postage fee of sending a CD through Australia Post (in a small stachel) is around $3.00.

See how this compares to the results you're getting from the module.

Hope this helps...

Thank you Tony for your very well explained answer.

I'll go do some testing and comparing, then will post back here the results when I get the chance.

Have a good day.

Im working on intergrating the various packages available into the next release however there is so many variables to consider.

Hello again.

I have entered the weight for a CD as .8 but when the shipping option is shown this is what I get.

Parcel 6.50

Int Air 1.50

Int Parcel 1.50

Express 9.95

Sea 1.50 with all of them reporting the weight as 3.08.

When I put in 2 CDs it gives the weight as 3.16.

I am obviously doing or have done somnething wrong. Any advice please.

ok they will report them as 3.08 becasue you have tare weight set to 3 in your shipping section in the admin configuration.

Remove that and you will be fine :)

Also dont forget to setup the zones where each module is available to, otherwise Overseas options will show up to australian customers and oz ones to os customers...

Hello Snowman,

Sorry about the fires which I guess ravaged around where you are!

It is fine now that I removed the tare weight, however two things I'm not sure about.

1. In the shipping modue. 10% for larger packages. Should this be left '0' ?

2. Not sure where to correct the Aus zones.

Thank again,

set 10% to 0 otherwise it will add 10% to the weight of your products.

As for the zones, its the new dynamic shipping functions that have been added recently.

You need to create a zone in the tax zones section and include which countries you want to include in it.

You then set them up in the shipping module.

Okay, it seems I did put the Oz zones in a little while ago. I have all states and NT.

This is also what I have in Admin..

In Configuration - Shipping/Packaging

Country code AU

Postal Code 2170

Max 50

Pak tare 0

Larger 0

Handle Fee $1

In Modules - Shipping

AusPost Parcel etc (5 options)

Zone Rates

Enable Zone method 1

Handle Fee 1

Zone1 Countries

US,CA

Zone 1 Ship Table

3:8.50,7:10.50,99:20.00

99 9/10's of our sales are to OZ.

I did notice that the Int Postal Shipping rates shown in the Catalog Checkout Shipping Options where actually cheaper than the Oz rates.

Is that someting I need to change in the modules/shipping above?

Sorry to bug you more, but I really do appreciate your help as its no good if the wrong info is given top the shoper.

Regards,

i assume youre using the latest version of the module?

If so you should be able to set each auspost module to specific zones from within the module.

ie the auspost.php and auspost_express.php modules should be set to only work in your australian zone, whereas the others should be setup to work in a zone you must create which has all the destinations youre shipping to except australia.

You will need to create a "World Zone" as it where in the tax zones section of admin and list all the countries in it that you will ship to using that zone.

I'm having some trouble with the auspost files, everytime I enable one and set the shipping zone (Australia) for Australia Parcel Post, the Module then fails to show in the checkout post options.

I cant work out why they dissapear when I set the shipping zone to(Australia), it also seems to happen on the defualt shipping modules that are installed -I'm running CVS2.2,

anyclues?

Lee,

Is your test customer set for an Australian zone?

If it's a different country, they won't show.

Tony

Hi Tony,

I have a Test Customer with a Australia Address (defualt), and also added some International test addresses into the customers shipping locations, it must be some simple configuration I have missed - this is the first time I installed the auspost so im not 100% sure about anything.

when I disable the "zone" and use "-none-" it works fine, but that means my aussies shipping options are showing to international customers.

its not a major drama - but does looks slightly unprofessional and perhaps a little confusing to the customer.

thanks for your input.

Cheers Lee
