Upgrading 101 :-)

I'm a total novice, so be gentle...

I've been running version 1 of osc on my site for years and am now wanting to upgrade to osc's latest offering.

I've read through all the upgrading sections in the documentation, but it's mostly way over my head.

What I do know how to do is install the new version in a new folder on my server (and how to transfer payment modules).

What I don't know how to do is use the existing DB (which has many thousands of customers on it!) So... how do I get the new version to talk to the DB? As I said... I'm totally raw at this, so assume zero knowledge of anything :-)

Thanks,

Mart

PS: The old installation is in the catalog folder on my server. Is it advisable to replace this with the new files, or to make a new folder for the new files.

You would have to either apply all the db updates on your current db from your current version to the new version or Transfer the data table by table from your current db to the new one.
