mindwire
I built a new website for a client who had an older oscommerce site. They had run into issues of customers going to checkout and would login and keep getting bumped back to the login and the cart emptied. I had figured that it may be due to cookies as I had the same problem with cookies disabled. The new site I was able to process transactions without cookies enabled but yet the issue still persists with the latest OSCOMMERCE. I cannot replicate the issue even with cookies disabled, javascript disabled, killing session cookies etc. Apparently they are using the correct login information. I built a script to test available settings when they submitted an issue form from the login page that they were having problems. All have come back with cookies and javascript enabled. I do not know what to tell my clients and wondering if others have experienced this and if there is a solution. I have a hard time finding similar issues with the search. Thank you

Thank you I had a similar problem. I could NOT replicate the issue on my computer. I then moved to another computer and WAS able to replicate the issue. I then went in to the admin and Set "Recreate Sessions" to "False" This seemed to fix my issue and have not had anymore complaints. I am using a heavily modified store so i am not sure what the default setup is like. It's a Zoo in Here, Literaly...

It turns out it is already set to false, I believe Sam's answer is probably what the issue is as the custom pages use a regular <a> instead of oscommerce generating the link to keep pass the session id. So they may be hitting one of those pages before checkout which causes the issue.
