rchen32 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Hello All, In the past, I had use OsCommerce for a company that I worked for. I like the product and the easy of none-tech user to update information. Currently I am working on a project for a non-profit organization to have a website that enables other board members to update information. My Question is: 1. Should I use Os Commerce? I am not looking to provide online shopping service. It is mainly just for info such as news, meeting 2. If Os Commerce is not it, can someone suggest what other to use? Thanks in advance, Rchen32
spooks Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 osC would be fine for your purpose, u do not need to use the cart u could make product descriptions full html, then instead of products they are information pages, so your clients can easily update Sam Remember, What you think I ment may not be what I thought I ment when I said it. adammde Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I would avoid any shopping cart software for a content management system (CMS) requirement. Wordpress is a self-host blogging application, that provides very very very easy ways to add lots of information pages, and you can use the blog section for news, and allows multiple users to add bits. The admin interface to Wordpress is quite simply the best I have used in terms of ease of use.

h2oHOH Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Should I use Os Commerce? If you decide to use osC there's a contribution to make it non-ecommerce here, although I've never used it? http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/3023
ricksteruk2005 Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I would recommend Joomla, reasons being I find it very easy to use (as do a lot of people have used it for) it has a easy interface for updating and creating new pages. I most def would not use OSC for what you want. If you think about it you could build a house out of mud (OSC in this instance), it would work but its not what its designed for where as Bricks ( a dedicated CMS) would build a better house and thats what they are designed for I dont help with templates (thats what the seller is for) th search function will often help, when it dont try this in google. site:http://www.oscommerce.com/forums then your search word
