.htaccess 301 redirects

I've been using the "search engine safe urls" feature for a few years but recently install an seo contribution which required them to be turned off.

The problem is that I now have loads of pages listed on google / yahoo using the old url's.

I was wondering if anyone knows how to write a .htaccess redirect from the old (Search engine safe url's) to the standard oscommerce urls.

 

below is a sample of how the two sets of url's look for an individual product.

 

Old Url:

http://www.domain.com/shop/product_info.php/products_id/163

 

Needs to redirect to this:

http://www.domain.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=163

 

Obviously I need it to work for all products, I'm sure it can be done but have no idea how.

[presuming you are not on a WinDoze server] Instead of reverting to standard urls why not use proper seo urls?

 

ULTIMATE SEO URLs version 2.1d ORIGINAL updated will recognise the old url and 301 redirect the bots to the nice new url without you needing to worry about new RewriteRules.

 

ULTIMATE Seo Urls 5 is out very soon though :)

Thanks for the info, but I,m not really looking for another SEO contribution, can't remember which one I installed but it does all I need and would be a pain in the butt trying to uninstall and installing another one. A nice rewrite rule would be fine for me :-) if any one can help.

Hi,

I'm using Ultimate SEO URLS 2.2 d-4 on my new site and need to redirect a lot (150+) of URLs from my old site that is using SEO-G v1.20.

Is there any way to do this using the redirect within Ultimate SEO URLs? I have the mappings from SEO-G to Ultimate SEO URLs already written for .htaccess but it's makes for a big file and bad performance. Any suggestions.

Will ultimate seo URLS allow us to define our own product and category url.

As is the case with SEO-G.

If Yes I will start using that.I have heard a lot on this forum about Your SEO URL contribution but would like to know if it has this feature to give a hands on.
