Can't figure out why I have .3 pounds of weight shown

I'm pretty sure this makes no sense, but that's the way things are in my life.

If I put a weight of 0 pounds in for an item, the weight shown for shipping is .3 pounds.

If I put 1 pounds in for an item, the weight shown is 1.3 pounds. It is always .3 pounds too high. I only have one product in the shopping cart when I do this.

If I put multiple items in shopping cart, the total is always .3 pounds too heavy.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks,

Log in to your osc admin panel and under configuration>>shipping/packaging set "tare weight" and "Larger Packages - Percentage Increase" to zero. Either or both are causing the increase in shipping cost.

Bryce -- You Found It! There it was, the .3 pound figure! Thank you so much! I looked and looked. I ended up going into the script and I found a "total_weight" variable in the shipping script and I put a "-.3" in there, which "fixed" the problem. But you've negated the need to hack it. Thanks again! Now I have to go back and find the hack.

I was wondering where I could add the shipping container weight. Unfortunately, various containers will have to be used, and the setting you describe will work well for the smallest one, but as they get larger, their weights will increase. And the stuff we are selling is very light. So container weight is somewhat significant.

Thanks again Bryce! I really value your advice.
