General osCommerce layout question

Hi folks,

I've seen quite a few osC sites but they all share the same graphical layout. Does the latest version include a template system where different parts can be moved around and customised or do you have to stick to the way it comes?

Thanks.

You do not have to stick to the way it comes. But to customize the layout to your liking you do need a good understanding of PHP.

No they don't, you just don't know the ones that are customized are really osC also :D A large number of people stick with the default template, and those are the sites you may have seen the most of, but go to showcases and live shops and look around, and click on the "www" buttons of a number of forum members and you will see a variety of layouts and graphic designs.

Also, I have done a lot of shopping site cruising the past few weeks and there are a large number of cgi, asp and other software run shops that look just like osC shops, until you look in the address bar and see the .cgi or .asp extension.

Some things are easier than others, osc is highly customizable if you have php skills and patience!
