Stuck on step 1 with database issue

Hi Everyone,

While trying to install my new website I am getting stuck on step 1

On the first page I am getting all gree checks - specifically stating that PHP is installed and the MySQL extension is enabled.

On Page 2 where I enter my database information I enter localhost for the database server, the sa user name and correct password, and a valid empty database name

I have verified that the database is running, I have read many forums and got a few tips but nothing that directly solves this

I looked at the version of the php_MySQl.dll I have and it is 5.9.9

I have SQL 2005 Express installed as a local database server

Everything is running on windows XP

Windows Firewall is turned off

I am logged in as an Administrator

One forum I read about suggested I provide localhost:80 for the database server name ( and also the port ). This did not work. The database check started and never returned. But it got me thinking about what port the install tool was using.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

SQL 2005 Express installed
read again manual & you will find that you need MySQL. you see the difference? or still can't read?

Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here!

8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself.

Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues.

Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.
