Linking to Offline Databases?

Hi Everyone,

 

i am currently choosing the software i need to build my new E-comm site, and was wondering if anyone could give me abit of advice.

 

I want to be able to link my website to an offline database for a few reasons:

 

1) i would like the stock levels to be held on an offline database on our central computers.

 

2) i would like the list of items sold/picking list to be held on an offline database (some orders will contain multiple parts)

 

 

Is this at all possible?
