Where do I from start change the original templates?

Dear osCommerce Love,

 

I want to change default (original template). I'm using my web site, I am afraid of see any error from work of changing template.

There for, how to change?

Where do I from start change the original templates?

I want to a free template.

 

My osCommerce version is 2.2RC2

It is really not easy to explain in simple post how to change the template. You need to change bunch of files and know some HTML/CSS and basic PHP.

 

I would spend few bucks on commercial template to avoid the pain.

 

If you want to learn your own way to template development you will need to spend some time learning the code.

I did sites in different languages as well. I can not tell for all templates, but the once I used were extremely easy to use with additional languages. I did not do anything special for that.

 

Install Turkish language. See if you find it here http://addons.oscommerce.com/category?search=Turkish

 

Ask template provider if template will work with your language.

Actually, I want to make a drop drown menu.Firstly I wanted to change my template. But my version is os commerce online merchant v2.2 RC1,

but I found lots of 2.2 MS2. I didn't find a right template. :(

 

My idea is now, making a drop drown menu. I opened catogories.php, but I didn't understand.Please help me. How to start, where can I read...
