How to change the sites title?

Help me please, i need to know how to change the sites title (upper bar which says whats the sites name), to my own customized one.

It depends on the version you have. Try editing the store name in admin->Configuration->My Store.

I have two variants, russian and english.

When i follow your steps (Russian Variant) it shows me the English variant name. can you help me?

You will need to edit the includes/languages/english.php and russian.php files. Find this line

define('TITLE', STORE_NAME);

and change it to

define('TITLE', 'Your new title');

 

A better solution would be to install one of the meta tags contribution. The one I recomend, Header Tags SEO, will allow you to have full control over that, as well as some other text on the page, for all languages.

Great, i tryed to change it, i removed the old (good one) and i got the new one.

And it ruined my site! It made my site go from russian to some geibrish language.

how do i fix the encoding in notepad to russian (from wierd language)???

I think Russian requires the charset to be changed. If you don't have the Russian language pack installed, that would be more difficult. You might want to post asking for help from anyone that has Russian working on their site. It is not, in my experience, one of the more popular language additions so support might be a little more difficult to obtain.
