mattice
It would mean a serious re-write. You're much better of using software that is designed especially for that purpose IMHO, like www.phpauction.org offers. Their old version is GPL licenced. Regards, <Mattice> But it doe cost money to down laod and I have found no one that will pass it on for free yet! I thought the whole idea of GLP was that it was free......I know the source is free but thats surely not the point if you have to pay to download it?? Guest
Hi, I came accross your post and note that an 'Auction' package for osC would be a good idea, a lot of osC users are also looking for ways to intergrate eBay listings into the site (subject to legal problems and an expensive API) I note that phpAuction in GPL is a $10 download which is only a small amount to pay for such a useful 'building block' I have taken this and been able to reasonably easily intergrate other options and functionality that is present in the paid for versions. I want to look at somehow starting the development of intergrating osC with some of the GPL PHPAuction but understand this will be no easy task by ANY stretch of the imagination BUT I am willing to give it a go. I would be happy to hear from others who feel this would be something they would like to get involved in. Please note when I say get involved I mean just that, a small minority of vistors to this (an other Opensource projects) seem only capable of hanging around waiting for a free handout. So is anyone up for this? it could take weeks/months but think of all the fun you'll have :0 Anyone who would like to get involved is asked to PM me your details and a brief outline of your skills/knowledge etc and what you would like to see. Please ONLY genuine replies. Regards Ed i-netmedia

Free Software is free as in freedom not as in free beer. So yes, the source being free IS surely the point. Other than that I'd suggest you punch in 'phpauction + download' in Google... I'm sure you'll find someone that offers it for free. zimonline
Is it a good idea to try blend the 2 together or would it not be easyer and more effective to keep osc as it is and just replace the incart button with a make a bid button which will up the "Price" of the product and have a history box like in the admin and maybe an e-mail function to update the bidders i am no pro by any streach but i think this could be done by adding a few columns to a few tables get a very nice result this could then be added to over time Quote Why reinvent the wheel
Guest
I would really like to see that come out, I have been in search of a good open source project like Oscommerce but in the auction type software, and I can't seem to find anything close, I am wanting a auction type program that is clean and neat like osCommerce with full functions like Authorize.net payment modules and such. I wouldn't even mind paying for it, but I really like the idea of it being open source with allot of people colaborating together, instead of someone trying to sell you something that can not be modified or add to. I hope Ed in the later reply get some helpers to make it happen, I would really like to see it come about. I would gladdly help, but I am a beginner to php and I can only modify others code here and there at this point. I am sure there is quite a few more people in here that would love to see this contribution also. Doug
