Bass20XX Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Hey guys, sorry for the REALLY n00by first post, but I've searched and searched, and tried everything I can think of. I've gone through the installation of osCommerce flawlessly, but now I've got an issue. I keep getting told that the system can write the configuration.php files, and I can't work out why. I've CHMOD'd them both to 644, 444 and 400, and as many other settings as I can think of to try and get this damn error message to go away, but it won't. I uploaded the files in Dreamweaver (because FTP Surfer refused to handle folders), but can't CHMOD in dreamweaver (the files retain their previous setting), so I CHMOD in FTP Surfer. It seems to go perfectly, I can't access the PHP files in my web browser, but I still get the error message that the config files can be written to. What have I missed? :(
Bass20XX Posted April 29, 2009 Author Posted April 29, 2009 There's no CHMOD option on my host's FileManager system. :(
h2oHOH Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 There's no set file permission? Hope you're not paying much for that... maybe time to change...or you could try telnet, that's before my time, maybe someone else will know?
Bass20XX Posted April 29, 2009 Author Posted April 29, 2009 I did what I probably should have done straight away, and asked their customer support operatives who very kindly crafted me a PHP page that altered the permissions on the file in question. :) Everything's sorted now, so I'll alter the thread title (if I can) to reflect this.
h2oHOH Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 ...customer support operatives who very kindly crafted me a PHP page that altered the permissions....) Good to hear!... security is a very important issue online...
