Drop shipping rate calculation

Hi:

 

I need to figure out how to calculate shipping based on drop shipment per item. My store is made up of products that will be send directly from the manufacturers. I want to be able to calculate the shipping charges based on the manufacturer's zip code. Necessarily, this will need to be done on a per item basis. Does anyone have any ideas?

 

I think I will need to start by adding fields to the database for the manufacturers' address info. Then, modify the UPS shipping module to calculate for each item. I don't know...

 

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Jason,

I am in the same boat as you. I did exactly what you did and it seemed to work just fine. Although I know it would be nice to be able to keep the origin of the store as your home location then a separate shipping zip code and not only with the different shipping options.

Maybe someone out there can help us out.
