s1lverf0x Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Hi, I'm a Newbie to website building - have installed OSC 2.2 rc2a, then STSv458, then the modernrc2a template - but I can't get things like "My Account" to work. I just get the following error with anything on the top menu bar: click "My Account" - The server can not find the requested page: <mysitename>/account.php (port 443) click "Cart Contents" - The server can not find the requested page: <mysitename>/shopping_cart.php (port 443) click "Checkout" - The server can not find the requested page: <mysitename>/checkout_shipping.php (port 443) These files are on my root dir (where I installed OSC) - but I'm still not sure how all this hangs together once I've installed STS & I'm pointed at the modernrc2a template. If someone could point me at some documentation on how to switch common features on I would be very grateful. Thanks Silver
masat Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Did it work before the addon mods? The problem is most likely in the configure.php file. Try the forum on the template modules you installed. There is no switch of any kind unless of course you put one in yourself but then you would know that wouldn't you. Or maybe there is something in one of those mods you installed. This would bring us back to the above listed TS(troubleshooting). How do you know when you know what you want to do for the rest of your life?

I dont' know if it worked before as I was initially looking at getting the theme set up - so I installed OSC, then STS & then modernrc2a. Being new to this I feel like I'm missing a trick here - surely I need to turn some settings on to initiate the account.php & get the "My Account" feature, or build some page or install the file somewhere??? Thanks in advance for any pointers Silver
masat Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 You must be a site designer No? There are no tricks. Here is how I start a site. 1. Install osc and insure it is fully functional. 2. Make a backup of my new install including db. Both live and local. 3. I open my design in the browser and copy the html. 4. I set my code into the design html. 5. Now I do addons. Most of my addons are ones I have used for years and I normally use the heavily modified core code to start any site cause it is all the same when you look under the hood. In my opinion there is nothing easy about using those template things. Have you checked the STS forum section in contributions I suspect you have missed something in the installation of an addon. Good Luck How do you know when you know what you want to do for the rest of your life?
