sgonzal Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I set up this shopping cart http://www.texasleadership.org/cart/ for a client but I am having trouble customizing it. How do I customize it to be more appropriate to the product? What files do I need to modify? Where do I go to modify the files? How do I get to these files?
FIMBLE Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 If you, as a developer and taking money for the job are not sure then perhaps you should not be doing it?? Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post My Contributions
sgonzal Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 Doing what, smart guy? Taking money or web developing? Please stop wasting my time with your arrogant comments. At least you should learn how to write clearly so that we can understand what you are trying to say. I hope that your coding skills are better than your writing skills.

So you take a few hundred and ask here for free help! Im not arrogant, far from it.. But i do take offence when people like you who obviously know nothing just ask a general how do i. Perhaps you should have though of this BEFORE you took the cash. I am a professional programmer and developer and i do not want to be associated with idiots like you coming in to our profession and giving us all a bad name. Did not write properly as i thought you might want help to understand that too. Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post My Contributions
♥14steve14 Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 here are many ways to alter and modify oscommerce. Most resources can be found by doing a little work, like searching on Google. The subject of modifying and altering oscommerce is wide, and this forum is not really the place to start a rather long explanation. Not only yhat , but as a professional you should be able to find this info. REMEMBER BACKUP, BACKUP AND BACKUP

Id like to see a real manual or doc on how to configure this cart... the help they provide at oscommerce.org is a total joke So its not helpful when people come here and ask for help and get insulted or told to google or search the forums which are full of unanswered questions

♥14steve14 Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 There are plenty of bookd available, including e books. They do cost though. There is also documentation in the solutions section of this site. its worth a look. They will give you an idea of how to customize oscommerce, and what files to alter. Search these forums for help on individual problems you are having. if you are having these problems, you can be that someone else has had them in the past. The look of the site that you are adding oscommerce to, is so simple to replicate. All you need to do is to add a new header log, and change a few colours in the stylesheet. Give it a go.
