Is there anyway to place only part of your catalog on a secure server like the personal info. I have removed the database field for CC numbers. But also want to have the user info protected. I am on a shared server and have a difficult time with using a different https://mystore.servername.com than my own https://mystore.com

Anyone tell me if I can do this and what is the best way to do it.

best way is to get your own SSL certificate - not expensive nowadays - a few tenners if you install it yourself, plus possibly a dedicated IP address.

Thank ken I will look into it. I did some reading and found they were around 200.00 per year I think. I dont know if they work on a shared server though. I presently dont do enough sales to justify paying that yet.

$200? no way. a fraction of that. yes, SSL cert will work on shared servers. you need an SSL to boost sales as customers are looking for it oh yes you need enough sales to pay for the SSL but then you must start somewhere. bottom line: SSL is very cheap.

Thanks Ken Can you point me in the right direction for SSL at a good price. I already do all my CC processing off site thru autorizenet. But all the information is inputted through my shopping cart then relayed to authorizenet, to me this is just another way for CC numbers to be vulnerable.
