different prices for different sizes

I know I can place different products into the catalog and state their sizes but is there anyway that I can place items into the the catalog and have different sizes sizes with out placing 3 items into the catalog one for every size. then the customer would have the choice of choosing the size they want and would get charged for that size they chose only. How can i do this or is there an add-on for this.

If you go under Catalog in your Admin panel you will see a link for "Products Attributes" you can set a Size Attribute there with any addistion for price etc.

I must be doing something wrong. I used the product attributes/sizes option. I have photographs that have two different sizes 8 x 10 and 11 x 14 with a different price for each size. I set them up in admin, and all seemed to be fine. Then when I tried a test in the catalog it shows both sizes for the photographs with the prices for each but does not give me the option to choose one. If I click on add to cart it adds both sizes giving me two photographs of different sizes and charges me for both. How do I give the customer the option to choose one of the other.

From what you are describing it sounds like you have made several product options and assigned them to a product.

 

 

Make only 1 Product Options named let say: Size

 

Then add in the different sizes under Option Values

 

 

then you can add it to the product.....

 

 

This should give you a dropdown with the possibilety to select among the different sizes on the product page

Thanks Nick that fixed that problem, but now when customers see the product on the main page it shows a price of 0.00 if they click on it they get the option to choose the size they want and then the correct price is calculated into the cart. If i put a price on the product when I am inserting it so it shows under the image on the main page then that price is added to the size they select. Is there any way around that?

There are add-ons in the contribution section....

 

 

But the simples way is this..

 

You price the product at the lowest option price.

 

The lowest option you then has as + 0 , ie. no price increase

 

the other options you have at + the price increase over and abow the lowest price
