skipunda Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Hi, I have a feeling that the reason some clients aren't getting my oscommerce emails is either there is an error in the sending format defined in mail.php or more worryingly because my A records or MX records aren't correct. Isn't it a requirement that all mails recipient addresses require that they are registered with something? If your oscommerce site's mail method isn't registered then your emails will be given a threat level based on the content. If not a threat level, they will just be ignored by recipient email service, such as Hotmail. To test this theory I sent a 'wishlist'. It appeared in a Gmail account, Virgin Media account but not a Hotmail one. What are your thoughts on this? Is this a common thing, something that can be solved in mail.php or does it go deeper than that?
skipunda Posted April 22, 2009 Author Posted April 22, 2009 just to tack on the end I AM using an email alias when sending mail (found in configuration.php) like this: My Store <[email protected]> also, My Email Options look like this: Email Transport Method sendmail Email Linefeeds LF Use MIME HTML When Sending Emails False Verify EMail Addresses Through DNS False <-- I dont think I want this, might delete Send Emails True
skipunda Posted April 22, 2009 Author Posted April 22, 2009 Just found my mail server does not have an SPF record. My question now is: What are the two email types and which should I use if I have a dedicated webserver with inbuilt SMTP address. This will go a long way to solving the issue here.
